Education cleaning for schools, colleges, and universities

Classrooms, restrooms, and hallways ready for students every morning, with deep floor work planned into breaks and a schedule built around your academic calendar.

National Cleaning Group cleans K-12 schools, private and charter schools, colleges, universities, and training centers. Each program is built around your academic calendar, building hours, and access rules. The nightly clean, daytime coverage, and break-period projects are priced as separate lines, which makes it easy to see where the budget goes.

What we clean in schools and campuses

  • Classrooms. Trash and recycling, floors, clear desk and table surfaces, door handles, light switches, and sinks.
  • Restrooms. Fixtures cleaned and disinfected, dispensers restocked, floors mopped. High-use restrooms can get a midday check from a porter.
  • Hallways, entrances, and stairwells. Floors, glass, handrails, lockers, and drinking fountains.
  • Cafeterias. Dining floors, tables, seating, and the public side of the serving area after the last lunch period.
  • Gyms and locker rooms. Court sweeping, bleachers, locker room floors and benches, showers.
  • Libraries, offices, and staff lounges. Dusting, vacuuming, kitchenettes, and touchpoints.
  • Residence halls and student centers on college campuses, priced by building and floor.

Classrooms follow teacher rules

Crews clean floors, empty bins, and wipe clear surfaces and touchpoints. Student projects, papers on desks, and anything posted on walls stay where they are. Whiteboards get cleaned when teachers mark them ready. Every crew member follows the same rules.

Nightly cleaning and daytime coverage

The night crew resets the building after students leave, working from a room-by-room list of nightly and weekly tasks.

During the day, a spilled tray in the cafeteria, a restroom out of paper towels at 11 a.m., or a muddy entrance after recess needs someone on site. A day porter handles that while classes are in session. Porter hours are quoted apart from the nightly program, and you can add them only where they are needed.

Built around your academic calendar

We plan the school year in three parts:

  • School year. Full nightly program plus any daytime porter hours.
  • Breaks and summer. Reduced nightly cleaning for staff and summer programs, with project work while buildings are empty.
  • Events. Graduations, games, open houses, and testing days can be added as extra visits.

Floor care during breaks

Hallway and classroom tile takes heavy traffic all year. Breaks are when floors can close long enough to strip and refinish, scrub and recoat, and extract carpet in libraries and offices. Gym floors are screened and recoated on the cycle the finish calls for. We set these dates with you well before the break. See floor care for the full list.

Disinfection for high-touch areas

Door handles, desks, railings, drinking fountains, and restroom fixtures are disinfected on every visit. During cold and flu season you can add touchpoint rounds or an electrostatic application as a separate line. Details are on disinfection services.

Access and campus rules

Tell us which doors the crew uses, which rooms stay locked, how alarms are set, and whether your district or campus requires badges, escorts, or a crew list. The schedule reflects those rules from the first night.

One contact for every building

Districts and campuses rarely have one building. Each school or campus building gets its own task list and frequency, and one dedicated account manager runs the whole account. That person knows your calendar, your principals, and your facilities staff. A missed room or a gym that needs attention before a tournament takes one call. Supervisors inspect each building on a regular schedule.

How to start

Book a free facility assessment. We walk your buildings, count classrooms and restrooms, note floor types and gym surfaces, and review your calendar. You then receive a written quote covering the school year and the breaks. If you have an RFP, send it with your site list and square footage and we will respond to it directly. For how nightly programs work, see janitorial services.

Questions facility managers ask

Can you clean while classes are in session?

The main clean happens after students leave or before they arrive. During the school day, a day porter can cover restrooms, spills, cafeteria floors after lunch periods, and restocking. We scope daytime hours as a separate line.

How do you handle classrooms with student work and teacher materials?

Crews empty trash and recycling, clean floors, wipe clear desk and table surfaces, and disinfect touchpoints. Student work, papers, and anything posted on walls stay untouched. Whiteboards are cleaned only when teachers mark them ready.

What happens during summer and winter breaks?

Nightly cleaning scales down when the building is empty, and project work moves in: floor stripping and refinishing, carpet extraction, and detail cleaning. We plan both on one calendar.

Do you clean cafeterias and gyms?

Yes. Dining floors, tables, seating, and the public side of the serving line are regular scope, along with gym floors, locker rooms, and bleachers. Kitchen equipment and hoods usually stay with your food service provider. Ask during your assessment if you want them scoped.

How do you work with campus access and security rules?

Tell us your badging, key, alarm, and escort requirements and we build them into the schedule before the first night.
