Disinfection services for commercial facilities

Scheduled touchpoint disinfection and electrostatic spraying for the surfaces people touch most in your building.

Dozens of people a day touch your door handles, elevator buttons, faucets, and shared keyboards. A disinfection program treats those surfaces on a set schedule.

National Cleaning Group provides touchpoint disinfection and electrostatic spraying for offices, clinics, schools, gyms, retail stores, and public buildings. We use EPA-registered disinfectants.

Clean first, then disinfect

Disinfection works only on a clean surface, because dirt, grease, and film shield germs from the disinfectant. Every program follows the same order:

  1. Clean. Remove soil and residue from the surface.
  2. Apply. Put disinfectant on the cleaned surface.
  3. Dwell. Leave the surface wet for the contact time printed on the label.

A spray-and-wipe that dries in seconds doesn't meet the label's contact time. Our crews are trained to leave the surface wet for the full time.

Touchpoint disinfection programs

We build the touchpoint list with you, based on how your building is used. A typical list includes:

  • Door handles, push plates, and crash bars
  • Light switches and elevator buttons
  • Handrails and stair rails
  • Restroom fixtures, faucets, flush handles, and dispensers
  • Break room counters, appliance handles, and tables
  • Reception desks and check-in counters
  • Shared phones, keyboards, and copier panels
  • Waiting room chair arms and tables

Touchpoint disinfection can run every night as part of your janitorial services, or more often in high-traffic areas with help from a day porter.

Electrostatic spraying

Electrostatic sprayers charge disinfectant droplets, which wrap around and cling to surfaces, including the sides and undersides of objects. They work well in large areas with many surfaces, such as classrooms, gyms, open offices, locker rooms, and waiting areas.

Spraying works best when the area can be cleared while the product is applied and dries, and when electronics and sensitive items are protected. We schedule it for nights, weekends, or planned closures.

Added disinfection visits

An illness in the office, a flu wave at a school, or a large event can call for an extra visit. Call your account manager and we'll schedule one. It is priced separately, and your regular program keeps running.

Where disinfection matters most

  • Medical offices and clinics. Waiting rooms, exam rooms, and patient restrooms. See medical office cleaning.
  • Schools and universities. Classrooms, desks, gyms, and cafeterias. See education cleaning.
  • Offices. Break rooms, conference rooms, and shared equipment. See office cleaning services.
  • Gyms and fitness areas. Equipment, locker rooms, and showers.
  • Public buildings and retail. Counters, entries, and restrooms with steady public traffic.

Planning around your occupants

During the walkthrough we note when areas are empty, which rooms hold sensitive equipment, and which surfaces need a gentler product, such as coated wood, stone, or touchscreens. Spraying is scheduled when rooms are clear. Touchpoint work can run nightly or through the day.

Products and documentation

Products are selected for your surfaces and setting. Your proposal can name the product, and we provide the label and safety data sheet on request. If occupants have sensitivities, tell us during the walkthrough and we'll plan around them.

Quality and accountability

Supervisors inspect disinfection work along with the rest of your cleaning. Your account manager handles changes and added visits. We are insured and bonded, and a certificate of insurance is available on request.

What disinfection costs

Price depends on the number of touchpoints, how often they're done, the size of any sprayed area, and whether the work runs with your nightly program or as a separate visit. Disinfection is listed separately in your proposal. For more on pricing, read our guide to commercial cleaning costs.

Questions facility managers ask

What is the difference between cleaning and disinfection?

Cleaning removes dirt and film so a surface is visibly clean. Disinfection is the next step: a disinfectant is applied to the cleaned surface and left wet for the contact time on the product label. We do both, in that order.

When is electrostatic spraying the right choice?

When you need disinfectant on a large number of surfaces, such as classrooms, gyms, waiting rooms, or open offices, and the area can be cleared while the spray is applied and dries. For nightly work in an occupied office, a hand-applied touchpoint program usually fits better.

Can you schedule an extra disinfection visit?

Yes. If you need an added visit, such as after an illness in the office or before a big event, call your account manager. It is priced as its own visit, and your regular program continues on schedule.

Which disinfectants do you use?

Products chosen for your surfaces and setting. We can name the product in your proposal and provide its label and safety data sheet on request.

Does disinfection replace regular cleaning?

No. Dirt left on a surface keeps a disinfectant from working. Your nightly janitorial program removes soil first, and disinfection is added on top. We run both under one contract.
